Hi, I’m Pascalle, a ceramic artist based in Rotterdam. My work grows from a love for experimentation, tradition, and the tactile nature of clay.

About artist

I’ve been teaching for seven years and I approach each class with patience, clarity and a genuine joy for the process - whether you’re new to clay or ready to deepen your skills.

  • “I’m only human” expresses our discomfort with imperfection and the pressure to be perfect. The human form is liquid—we’re shaped and reshaped by expectations, like porcelain poured into molds. Through these porcelain faces, I visualize our distress and fragmentation, purposefully moving beyond idealized features to criticize limiting norms.

  • The Faces Vases series transforms lips, symbols of emotion and desire, into striking art that challenges fleeting beauty trends. Crafted with ancient Raku techniques, each vase reflects my journey toward self-acceptance in a digital world. The Faces Vases series received international recognition, showcased at the 1000 Vases Expo during Salon del Mobile in Milan.

  • Hands shape our world and express what words can’t. In today’s fast, online world, real gestures are replaced by simple emoticons. By “hacking” ceramic molds, I created fragmented porcelain hands—polished for artificial perfection, with red glass spilling out like blood. This work questions whether digital technology deepens our self-expression, or if it erases the essence of being alive.

  • This collection explores our connection with the environment. Though we come from nature, we often treat it as something to control or consume. These works invite reflection and reconnection with nature and with ourselves.

  • I collaborated with Anne Grootenboer to create the Troostvaasje (Console Vase), a small, handmade vase designed as a comforting gift for those who are grieving. Each mini vase is wheel-thrown and carefully glazed, meant to hold a small token and help honor a loved one.

  • As a materials researcher for the innovative company Nova Innova, I am developing ceramic elements for POND, an energy cell designed not only to collect data but also to serve as beautiful floating lights across Rotterdam’s waterways. For this project, I experiment with different clay formulas and firing ranges to create pieces with specific porosity.

  • As one of the first artists in the residency, I created the sculpture Eye See You, exploring the idea of being seen without being physically looked at.

Couldn’t have been happier to join the workshop with Pascalle! Besides having the full studio for the two of us and therefore the full attention and guidance from Pascalle we had a lot of fun thanks to her easygoing but very honest approach to teaching. We loved the wheel throwing experience and time flew by. The location is also very relaxed and welcoming with a great coffee shop in front of it. We had full freedom to experiment and a fulfilling and learning creative experience. Would recommend to everyone!!!

Alice, One-Day Workshop

My girlfriend and I took this ceramics course together and we absolutely loved it! Pascalle made the whole experience relaxed, inspiring and very personalized. She guided us with so much patience and we both learned a ton about the whole process. Now I can go to the studio and create pieces independentlyWe will definitely take advanced courses after this, really recommend!

Edwin, 4-Week Ceramics Course

We had such a great time! I brought six of my best friends and we made so many pieces, some of which I ended up using for my wedding! Pascalle was amazing and made the day extra special for us. She even surprised us with champagne, set up fun music and we were laughing the whole time:) It was our first time and she did a fantastic job explaining everything and guiding us through the process. I would absolutely recommend it!
