Ceramic Artist, Educator & Founder
"I believe there is a deeper truth to be found in genuine human emotion and connection."
My connection to clay began at home. I learned the craft from my mother, and what started as a family tradition gradually grew into a lifelong practice. After studying Fine Art at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and Manchester Metropolitan University, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2018. Today, I have been working with clay for more than a decade.
Although I was born in the Netherlands, I spent much of my childhood in Singapore before returning at the age of eleven. Growing up between different cultures shaped the way I see the world and continues to influence both my artistic practice and aesthetic sensibility.
My work explores the relationship between the digital world and our physical experience of life. In an increasingly online society, I am interested in the value of tangible materials, human connection, and the act of making by hand.
Through ceramics, I investigate themes of identity, communication, and the ways technology influences how we relate to ourselves and one another.

In 2021, I founded Studio Pascalle de Jager in Rotterdam as a place where my artistic practice and passion for teaching come together.
Alongside creating my own work, I share my love for ceramics through workshops, courses, and private events. Whether someone is touching clay for the very first time or developing an existing practice, my aim is to create a welcoming environment where people can learn, experiment, and enjoy the process of making.
Exhibitions, Residencies & Collaborations

Alongside my studio practice, I regularly collaborate with artists, designers, organisations, and innovative companies on projects that explore new applications of ceramics.
My work has been exhibited internationally, including participation in the 1000 Vases exhibition during Milan Design Week 2021, where the Faces Vases series was presented as part of one of the world's leading design events.
Collaboration is an important part of my practice. Projects have ranged from intimate, handcrafted objects such as the Troostvaasje—a ceramic keepsake created together with Anne Grootenboer—to material research and product development for innovative public projects. As a materials researcher for Nova Innova, I contributed to the development of ceramic components for POND, an energy-generating system designed for Rotterdam's waterways.
My work has also been developed through artist residencies, including a residency at MINT Rotterdam, where I created the sculpture Eye See You, exploring themes of visibility, perception, and human connection.

A simple lump of clay gradually becomes something meaningful through time, attention, and care.
The material itself carries a rich cultural history. I use clay as a way to translate observations about contemporary life into physical form.
Each piece becomes a conversation between past and present, tradition and technology.

Teaching is a natural extension of my artistic practice. What began as a craft passed down through my family has grown into a passion for sharing ceramics with others.
In my studio, I welcome people of all experience levels to explore clay, develop new skills, and experience the satisfaction of making something by hand. Whether joining a 4-Week Ceramics Course, a One-Day Workshop, a Group Workshop, Christmas Ornament Workshop, or Painting Ceramics Workshop, the goal is always the same: creating space for creativity, curiosity, and connection.
